Job Responsibilities
Manage a complex caseload of children, young people, and families requiring statutory social work intervention and support.
Undertake assessments, care planning, reviews, and interventions in line with legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
Develop and implement child-centred care and protection plans to promote positive outcomes and reduce risks.
Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies to provide coordinated support.
Carry out child protection investigations and contribute to safeguarding processes, including strategy discussions, conferences, and court proceedings where required.
Prepare clear, accurate, and timely reports, assessments, and case recordings in accordance with statutory and organisational requirements.
Maintain effective communication with children and families, ensuring their views, wishes, and feelings are central to decision-making.
Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, reviews, and professional forums.
Support children and young people in achieving permanence, stability, and improved wellbeing outcomes.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and professional standards, including safeguarding responsibilities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records and documentation.
Manage workload effectively, prioritising tasks to meet statutory timescales and service demands.
Participate in supervision, training, and continuous professional development activities.
Contribute to service improvement initiatives and promote best practice within Children’s Social Care services.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Professional Registration
Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
Registered with Social Work England.
Evidence of ongoing professional development and learning.
Knowledge and Experience
Experience working within Children’s Social Care services, managing statutory social work cases.
Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding legislation, and statutory guidance relating to children and families.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and associated frameworks.
Experience undertaking assessments, care planning, and direct work with children and families.
Experience working within multi-agency environments and collaborating effectively with partner organisations.
Ability to prepare high-quality reports, assessments, and case documentation.
Understanding of risk assessment, care planning, and safeguarding processes.
Skills and Competencies
