Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Haematologist with an interest in multiple myeloma based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The post holder will join a supportive specialist multiple myeloma team which comprises one full-time Consultant Haematologist, one Consultant who provides one day per week of support, and two Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.



Main duties of the job

The multiple myeloma team strives to give the best possible standard of care for our patients and this has recently been rewarded with the presentation of a Clinical Service Excellence Award from Myeloma UK - the leading patient advocacy charity. The multiple myeloma service provides comprehensive access to diagnostic, staging and treatment pathways for multiple myeloma and plasma cell disorders.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.

Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
