We have an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Animal Technician to join our client’s state-of-the-art facility in Harrow. Our client trains the next generation of surgeons and conducts research for NHS patients.  Our client’s goal is to deliver high quality preclinical studies to better the world we live in today.

As Licensed Animal Technician, you will be involved in assisting the set up and delivery of surgical training courses and haver the opportunity to undertake specialist training for licensed activities. Due to the nature of the role, you may be required to take part in weekend work.

Main Responsibilities:

• Monitoring of animal welfare both pre and post op
• Anaesthesia, manoeuvring and monitoring of large and small animals
• Maintaining GLP records
• Administering medication and rendering procedures in accordance with study plan and animal welfare
• Compliance with GLP/Non GLP for studies and general work and compliance with SOPs
• Keeping training up to date
• Assisting with surgical preparation and procedures
• Preparing and assisting the running of surgical training courses and research
• Cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation of instruments and surgical equipment
• Assisting with examinations
• Maintaining stock levels of all resources

Person Specification:

• Knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
• Strong organisation and observation skills and problem-solving abilities
• Experience in animal procedures and a strong commitment to animal welfare in the facility
• Holder of Home Office Personal Licence A-C
