My client is looking for an experienced Nurse to work in a Health Improvement Scotland registered Independent Low Secure Hospital, which accommodates twenty-one patients aged between 18 and 65 with a primary diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness, all of whom are detained under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Scotland Act 2003 or Criminal Procedures (Scotland) Act 1995.

The hospital is a 21 bedded unit (all ensuite) split into 2 gender specific wards. It is superbly designed to maximize communal and living space for the patients as well as providing activity rooms for the facilitation of therapeutic programmes.

In this role you will:

• Ensure the highest possible standards of care, assessing residents' needs and wishes, and developing services to enhance their quality of life
• Champion appropriate independence and personal choice; developing, reviewing and updating care plans to meet our resident’s physical, social and psychological needs
• Oversee all aspects of medicine management on your shift
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines
• Support, guide, teach and mentor others in line with the NMC Code

For this post you must have:

• An RMN qualification
• The ability to lead a team, analyse problems and propose solutions or improvements
• The ability to communicate effectively and to develop professional relationships
• Be able to work under pressure and prioritise workloads
• Have experience of delivering nursing care within the mental health sector
• Experience of participating in quality and clinical governance programmes

• The ability to work alternate weekends
