Are you a R & D Lab Chemist looking to work in a well-established award-winning internationally operating manufacturing company in Standish? Due to growth the company is now expanding their team. Your main function will be the day to day batch manufacture required during lab scale development of new products and includes any other aspects of project development.  You will be rewarded with an employer that are Investors in staff training, current technology, offering a good work to life balance. Hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, with a salary of £12.50 per hour, there is overtime available of 2.5 hours per week (outside of your contracted 40 hours per week) which is paid at £18.75 per hour. 

R & D Lab Chemist Duties:   

  • To accurately complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.  
  • Provide suitable data for transfer purposes. 
  • Record work and generate reports as requested, Regular project reviews with Laboratory Manager 
  • Record all process information regularly and clearly to allow review and generation of commercial process instructions 
  • Preparation of laboratory samples and prepare samples for dispatch. 
  • Undertake experimental work in accordance with the R&D Manual  
  • Testing and evaluation of raw materials alongside evaluation and testing of competitors products. 
  • Support QA issues in relation to Rework / Complaints / Incidents / Rejects. 
  • Record all process information regularly and clearly to allow review and generation of commercial process instructions 
  • Calibration of equipment.  
  •  Support and train new staff in all procedures. 
  •  Immediately report any incident which the management need to address using the appropriate reporting systems in place. 
  • Ensure that all duties/activities associated within quality control department are carried out in compliance to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality management systems. 

R & D Lab Chemist Requirements:   

  • Previous experience of working in a busy lab environment, with an understanding of chemical processes is essential. 
  • The ideal candidate will have the Ability to follow chemistry testing techniques, understanding of sampling and product testing, calibration and good housekeeping. 
  • Must hold a BTEC / HNC in Chemistry (or equivalent Level 4 qualification in chemistry)  
  • Internal auditing experience is desirable however, not essential.  
  • Ideally working in a chemical / process type industry (COMAH site) would be advantageous. 
  • Familiar with management systems 9001, 14001 & 45001 is advantageous along with IOSH Managing Safely. 
  • IT literate in Microsoft Office Packages Word, Excel, Outlook  
  • Strong communication both written and verbal, able to build relationships, understanding of working in fast paced environments with the ability to prioritise and adapt to change, whilst able to understand process or continuous improvement.        
  • Model and promote an organisational culture that fosters safety through effective leadership.   
  • Team player, hands on approach with a positive attitude to learning and can work collaboratively.
