We are recruiting for a Commodity Buyer for a well established client based in Stone Staffordshire. For this role you will be purchasing within commodity groups to support manufacturing and the wider business.  This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity, up to 12 months.

For the role you will need the following skills

• Min GCSE English & Maths
• CIPS qualified (Preferable)
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of Warehouse/Logistics/Freight operations.
• Ability to understand the organisations requirements and apply procurement / buying strategies.
• Analytical, organised to meet deadlines
• Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain procurement information on an internal (cross functional) and external (suppliers) level
• A working knowledge and use of ERP and MRP for scheduling and forecast analysis.
• Knowledge of Excel & Word
• Ability to understand drawings and specifications
• Good negotiation and influencing skills whilst purchasing or expediting goods & services.
• Good understanding of COGS
• Willingness to travel (Supplier visits UK)
• Flexibility and ability to work at pace in a fast moving and varied environment.
• Vendor analysis understanding

Working hours are Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours
