Redditch• Permanent  • Full Time • £40,-50,000 DOE

You will be responsible for the profit on dispensing across a group of Pharmacies. You will report into the Directors and Financial Controller but be given relative flexibility to impact margin positively within the business, including negotiating directly with suppliers, amending product restrictions, and centralizing / redistributing stock where necessary.

The Buyer’s day to day duties are as follows:
  • Purchase all stock at the best possible price from the cheapest supplier
  • Negotiate terms with suppliers directly
  • Develop relationships with brands to go onto brand deals where appropriate
  • Reach out to new suppliers to purchase stock at better prices
  • Amend buying restrictions between brand / PI / generic on a constant basis
  • Buy in bulk where deals are available
  • Direct branches on category changes / concessions as they come through
  • Make sure all rebates are correctly received
  • Support branches to claim correctly for expensive items / broken bulk etc.
The Buyer must have the following skills/experience:
  • Buying experience in UK pharmacy for either a community pharmacy or wholesaler
  • Self-directed learning e.g. project work Knowledge Pharmacy drugs market
  • Basic accounting principles
  • Laws and Ethics relating to the practice of pharmacy
  • Awareness of current policy affecting pharmacy margin
  • Excel skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Reflective skills
  • Self motivation
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Able to plan, prioritise and organise workload
  • Can work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • General Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Other requirements Able to meet bank holiday and weekend requirements
