A global materials provider to the Aerospace, Automotive and Industrial sectors is recruiting a Quality Manager to join its Leicester-based team on a permanent basis. The Quality Manager plays a vital role in providing leadership and expertise to implement, improve and maintain ISO 9001 quality systems - whilst having the ability to act as technical expert to customers/clients.

Quality Manager Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and expertise to implement, improve and maintain ISO 9001 quality system.
  • Must be able to lead problem solving activities, using appropriate tools (such as 5 Phase or 8D), improvement techniques (such as Six Sigma) and quality planning techniques (FMEA, PCP) and personally lead the resolution of major issues. An ability to understand, when necessary, the detail of issues is very important.
  • Measure, track and communicate critical performance metrics to management, site personnel and corporate (PPM, customer credits, number of complaints, First Pass Yield etc)
  • Conduct management reviews of the quality system at least semi-annually; maintain records of quality reviews and actions resulting from these reviews.
  • Lead the plant towards ISO TS 16949 and EN9100 certifications.
  • Establish key focus on internal and external customer satisfaction by understanding and implementing material and system requirements, establishing teaming relationships and resolving problems.
  • Act as primary resource in the research and response to customer complaints, rejections, and requests for corrective action to enhance positive customer and supplier relationships.

Quality Manager requirements

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant technical subject - such as engineering, chemistry, science.
  • You will possess extensive quality management experience gained specifically from either the aerospace or automotive market.
  • Strong working knowledge of EN9100 or TS 16949 quality standards.
  • Strong working knowledge and leadership skills using Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving techniques.
  • Very good interpersonal skills, positive and pragmatic approach.
  • Change agent capabilities.
  • Skills at interfacing with customers, suppliers, and auditors.
  • Experience of problem-solving processes and Quality Planning activities
  • Good people management, planning and organizational skills.
