Research Scientist – Tier 1

We are recruiting for a Research Scientist to join a global contract research organisation providing discovery, preclinical and translational platforms and services to advance oncology and immune-oncology.
The Research Scientist will perform procedures for client and internal research in strict compliance with welfare, legislative, health and safety requirements and company SOP’s/policies.
Basic Requirements:
- Animal handling and husbandry.
- Welfare assessment including the use of appropriate terms for the recording of clinical signs.
- Basic skills including dosing, tissue sample collection and blood sampling.
- Record keeping.
- Understand aseptic techniques.
- Minimum of 5 GCSE level education, A level or BTEC in Animal Care.
- Experience of animal models.
- Personal Licence holder – preferably A-C.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To have competency in a range of basic techniques such as dosing, sampling and post op checks.
- Early detection of signs of ill health /loss of condition via clinical observations.
- Understand the current expectations of Home Office Legislation.
- Knowledge of relevant methods of humane killing listed in ASPA schedule 1.
- Support the system to ensure that a competent person sees and checks every animal at least once daily.
- Understand the main provisions of projects licences.
- Understand the culture of care at your establishment.
- To be responsible for appropriate records.
- May support training on experimental procedures.
