Working Pattern: Remote (occassional travel)

We are leading the search for a crucial role within the SHEQ team (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality). The SHEQ Coach will assist the Head of SHEQ and coaches/trainers with implementing the SHEQ Strategy, working within all areas of the SHEQ

management group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support Medequip in all elements of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) management as defined by the Head of SHEQ and HR Director to provide continuous performance improvement.
  • Reduction in Accident and Environmental Incidents and improvement of statistics and performance year on year.
  • To work with the Operational Teams and the SHEQ Team to ensure that workpalce Health, Safety & Environmental management systems', policy, procedures & documents etc. are fully understood and implemented.
  • Provide guidance and coaching across the organisation, as required, on all aspects of the SHEQ management systems, policy, procedures & documents etc.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections/audits as prescribed by the management system and feed the findings back into the Operational Teams and Head of SHEQ for corrective/improvement action.
  • Undertake regular SHEQ site visits and internal audits. Assist in the preparation of external SHEQ audits and participate as requested by the Head of SHEQ and/or the HR Director. Assist in the implementation of the corrective/improvement actions following the issue of the audit report.
  • Assist the operation teams to carry out thorough and detailed investigations into accidents and incidents. Support the Appointed Formal Investigation Leader in the timely completion and return of the investigation. Close out (where possible) on all investigations must be within seven days as

Measurement of Performance:

  • Support the Head of SHEQ and the HR Director in the development, implementation and delivery of Health, Safety & Environmental coaching programmes as required.
  • Liaise with local leadership and the relevant enforcement authorities/agencies on the notification of incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences, and the reporting/recording of these incidents.
  • Attend, where appropriate, leadership meetings, Health, Safety & Environmental meetings, contract meetings and workplace Health, Safety & Environmental committees/Safety Improvement Teams.
  • Escalate and cascade matters of concern through the appropriate channels to ensure that issues are dealt with and that future risk is controlled, supporting the SHEQ Team and the local operations to do the same where appropriate.
  • To provide an appropriate level of support and advice (to include assistance on prequalification and tender documentation and evaluation of subcontractor/supplier competence).
  • Prepare and submit applications for external Health, Safety & Environmental awards and accreditation schemes with the support of the Head of SHEQ.
  • To assist the Head of SHEQ and/or the HR Director in the production of SHEQ performance information and other reports for Local, Regional, Board level and Company wide distribution as requested.

Experience/Skill:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate / Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Recognised environmental awareness qualification (E.g. CIEH certificate, IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental management (or equivalent)).
  • Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of three years' experience of working within a Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality management field.
  • Previous experience of inspections and auditing against ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 5001, 27001)
  • Experience of creating, maintaining & developing SHEQ management systems.
  • Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing to a wide variety of groups with the ability to negotiate, influence, manage, motivate, coach, mentor, inspire, encourage and develop.
  • Full valid driving licence
