About Us:

Holiferm is a biotechnology company that develops sustainable and eco-friendly processes for manufacturing chemicals. We are based in the Northwest of England with a research and development laboratory in Manchester and a commercial plant in The Wirral, Liverpool. Our patented fermentation with gravity separation technology allows us to produce sophorolipids at a commercial scale. We are actively working on other processes, including rhamnolipids and MELs, which will be introduced to the market in 2024.

Our mission is to eliminate the need for petrochemicals in the production process and provide our customers with 100% biobased formulations.
 

Role Responsibilities:

As a Manufacturing Process Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • The technical assurance and process safety of our commercial-scale production facility
  • Process optimisation and troubleshooting of fermentation and downstream processing processes
  • Interfacing with the projects team to ensure successful plant commissioning and expansion
  • Line managing the pilot plant team to guide the pilot plant development direction
  • Carrying out project process design activities where required
  • Liaising with the R&D team in Manchester to understand new biomolecule processes
  • Working with Process Development, Production, QC and Supply Chain teams to ensure product properties align with a range of applications and industries.
     

Role Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates need to have:

  • Demonstrable industrial experience as a Process Engineer in the biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical or other related industries
  • Excellent knowledge of process plant unit operations and equipment to aid troubleshooting and design
  • Demonstrable experience or interest to lead a small team of Scientists and Engineers to drive value-adding and results-driven performance
  • The ability to take responsibility for your projects and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues at all levels.
