We’re supporting our client, a leading medical/moulding manufacturer based in Tonbridge, who are looking for a Business Development Manager to join their growing team. The successful Business Development Manager will have experience and knowledge working within a plastics manufacturing environment, ideally with medical/healthcare and technical products.

  • This post will suit an experienced Sales, Business Development or proven Commercial Individual with a background in the plastics processing industry and who will ideally have served in an engineering discipline.
  • We are looking for self-motivated, enthusiastic and charismatic applicants to develop mutually beneficial relationships with a broad range of new and existing customers.
  • Candidates will ideally have a good working knowledge of ISO13485 medical device industry standards as well as other technical industries.
  • As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and generating business enquiries & sales leads to aid in driving company growth.
  • This role will suit either a Technical Sales Manager or Business Development professional who will ideally have experience within the Medical Device / Healthcare industry.
  • The successful applicant will be an excellent negotiator with proven experience of sales processes, medical healthcare validation & regulatory compliance knowledge & experience.
  • The role is to ensure ongoing improvement in the company’s market position and financial growth, helping to define long-term organisational strategic goals. i.e. building key customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating & closing business deals, maintaining industry knowledge as well as current market conditions.
  • The successful candidate will work with the other functional teams to increase sales opportunities.

Responsibilities for Business Development Manager:

  • Engaging with the operational, technical & quality teams to ensure alignment on new business opportunities.
  • Creating, negotiating, and closing profitable new business deals and commercial agreements at all levels.
  • You will be responsible for devising business development strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities.
  • You will be required to negotiate and secure business by agreeing acceptable terms and conditions, contracts and supply agreements which manage business risks successfully.
  • Attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events to build relationships with industry partners and stay abreast of market trends.
  • Possessing a thorough understanding of the company’s core business offering as well as good knowledge of market competition.

About You:

  • HNC level minimum or equivalent in Engineering, Commercial or Science discipline
  • Should have prior experience and knowledge working within a plastics manufacturing environment, ideally with medical/healthcare and technical products.
  • Have a proven track record in sales, business development and securing new business.
  • A professional manner is essential, both face to face and via telephone/email, offering good clear communication skills
  • Strong & effective negotiation skills.
  • IT literate, competent with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook business tools.
  • Must have good experience in sales planning, sales forecasting, sales prospecting, diary management and CRM / Database (SalesForce/Epicor)
  • Must have excellent & clear English communication skills, be proficient in Maths and have financial awareness.
  • Full clean UK driving licence

Travel:

Some UK and overseas travel will be necessary.
