We are seeking dynamic and experienced Locum Sonographers to join our friendly team at Chelsea and Westminster hospital working with general and gynaecology ultrasound. We have opportunities for flexible working offering shifts across weekdays, evenings and weekends. Working through Medacs Healthcare you'll play a vital role in providing timely and high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to a diverse range of patients within their busy department.
Key Skills
In addition to your qualifications, as an agency Sonographer, you will need:
- Technical Expertise performing a wide variety of ultrasound examinations. (Potential areas include: General Sonography, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Musculoskeletal, vascular and urology)
- Operating and Maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Acquire high quality images and accurately interpret findings and using strong anatomical knowledge
- Effective communication

Main Duties/Responsibilities
As a temporary Sonographer, you will:
- Perform a wide variety of ultrasound examinations across various specialities, potentially including:
- General sonography (abdomen, pelvis, small parts)
- Obstetrics and gynaecology
- Musculoskeletal
- Vascular
- Urology
- Generate clear and concise reports for referring clinicians.
- Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, providing reassurance and information.
- Adapt to different clinical settings and workflows.
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Continuously update your knowledge and skills through professional development activities.
Requirements: Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications
You will need a degree in a relevant subject like:
- Radiography
- Midwifery
- Nursing
- Science
- Health Science
You must also have completed a postgraduate certificate or a postgraduate diploma in medical or clinical ultrasound, recognised by the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE).
Have a registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Have at least 2 years post-graduate experience preferably in the UK.
Have 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years.
You will need to pass an enhanced background check.
Proven ability to perform a diverse range of ultrasound examinations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong teamwork and adaptability.
Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Experience with PACS and reporting systems preferred.
