Day Webster Recruitment is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Histopathology Consultant to join our prestigious team. As a Consultant in Histopathology, you will play a key role in providing expert diagnostic services and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive histopathological examinations and provide accurate and timely diagnostic reports on tissue specimens obtained from surgical procedures, biopsies, and autopsies, adhering to established diagnostic criteria and quality assurance standards.
  • Interpret and analyze histological findings, integrating clinical and laboratory data to formulate accurate diagnoses and provide clinically relevant information to healthcare teams, guiding patient management and treatment decisions.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, tumor boards, and clinical case discussions, collaborating with clinicians, surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care pathways.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to clinical colleagues, junior medical staff, and allied healthcare professionals on the interpretation of histopathological findings, diagnostic techniques, and appropriate specimen handling and processing.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of histopathology protocols, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Engage in teaching, training, and supervision of junior medical staff, trainee pathologists, medical students, and laboratory technicians, fostering a culture of learning, excellence, and continuous professional development.
Requirements:
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and eligibility for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in Histopathology or equivalent qualification.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Histopathology.
  • Extensive experience in diagnostic histopathology, with expertise in interpreting a wide range of tissue specimens and familiarity with current histological techniques, staining methods, and ancillary tests.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior medical staff and contribute to service development and improvement initiatives.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care, promoting clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous improvement in pathology services.
