Cranleigh STEM is excited to partner exclusively with a globally renowned chemical manufacturing business based in Essex - who is recruiting for their next Senior R&D Manager. This strategic role will manage a number of departments including R&D, Analytical, Technical Services and playing a key interface for clients/customers.

The successful candidate will be a proven Manager in the chemical/paints/coatings industry - leading teams in R&D and Formulation coupled with a strong commercial background working closely with customers.

Senior R&D Manager responsibilities

• Management of R&D, Analytical, Regulatory, Technical Services teams. Continuous development and improvement of current portfolio of products.
• Maximise development capability through total awareness, involvement, teamwork, constant improvement and training.
• Improve the capability of staff by imparting experience and offering guidance on the correct development pathway.
• Support of resolution of customer problems/complaints.
• Creation of new technology.
• Working with Senior Management and the Board for strategy development and execution planning.
• Accurate and timely flow of departmental statistics, to be presented at the monthly Group Management meetings.

Senior R&D Manager requirements

• Degree level qualification in Chemistry or closely related.
• A proven R&D Manager with a strong background gained from the chemicals/paints/coatings industry.
• Chemical R&D experience and proven background in pushing innovation through a highly qualified team of chemists/scientists.
• Excellent people management skills with the ability to communicate and develop strong professional relationships with all levels of employees.
• Attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience working with customers/clients/OEMs.
• Ability to think outside of the box and provide excellent problem-solving skills to complex projects.
• Project management experience.
