We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Consultant to join our team. As an Oncology Consultant, you will lead the delivery of comprehensive cancer care services, providing expert clinical management and support to patients with cancer diagnoses. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment and contribute to improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and oversight in the management of patients with cancer diagnoses, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with cancer, including physical examinations, medical histories, and diagnostic investigations, to formulate individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and allied healthcare professionals, to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Deliver evidence-based cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies, in accordance with national and international guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review complex cases, discuss treatment strategies, and formulate personalized care plans for patients with cancer.
  • Provide education, support, and counselling to patients and their families regarding cancer diagnosis, treatment options, and supportive care services.
  • Contribute to clinical research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives within the oncology department to enhance patient care and service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Medical degree from a recognized institution and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) or equivalent qualification in medical oncology.
  • Substantial experience in the management of patients with cancer diagnoses, including experience in delivering systemic anti-cancer therapies.
  • Excellent clinical skills and proficiency in the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of various types of cancer.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and keeping abreast of advancements in oncology practice.
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Medical Oncology.
