SYNLAB UK & Ireland have extensive experience of working in partnership with the NHS to deliver and improve pathology services through its existing pathology joint ventures - including Southwest Pathology Services (SPS).

Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare within Somerset for 10 years and we have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Support Supervisor to support the operations team of Southwest Pathology Services at our HUB Laboratory site in Taunton. Our Laboratory holds ISO15189 UKAS accreditation and is a HCPC approved training laboratory.

We are dedicated to delivering exceptional support services to our clients and stakeholders. As a Business Support Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in leading our team of support staff to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our business functions.

Hours: 37.5hrs a week / 9am-5pm / Mon-Fri

The Role:

  • Supervise and mentor our team of support staff and oversee the day-to day administrative operations.
  • Provide general office and administrative support for the laboratory and SPS Senior Leadership team.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with department managers to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategic initiatives to enhance business support services.
  • Record minutes at meetings and distribute them as necessary.

What we’re looking for:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of knowledge in business administration, management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a business support or administrative function.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
