A UK manufacturing company based in the heart of Birmingham, specialising in the design, manufacture, and distribution of specialist healthcare & medical equipment. On the back of significant growth and demand with key customers, the business is now seeking a maintenance engineer to join the team.


The role
Reporting into the Engineering Group Leader, A Maintenance Engineer is now required to join the team to be responsible for all planned maintenance and breakdowns and supporting production across their Birmingham site.


You will take responsibility for:

• Proactively maintaining all production equipment, fault diagnostics and responding to machine breakdowns (electrical & mechanical).
• Carrying out equipment modifications, and supporting new product introduction
• Utilising lean techniques such as SMED to define and streamline technical changeovers.
• Implementing planned maintenance schedules, leading continuous improvement strategies and managing individual KPIs.
• Ensuring production deadlines are met and machinery downtime is kept to a minimum whilst tasks carried out are compliant with health and safety regulations and quality standards.

What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:

• Apprenticeship trained to HNC Level or above or holds relevant qualifications in the electrical engineering field or similar discipline.
• Previous maintenance experience working in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Good knowledge and understanding of PLCs.
• Robotic/Automation experience
• Ability to fault find both mechanically and electrically.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety in a fast-paced production/manufacturing environment

Other DESIRABLE skills include:

• Previous experience working within the healthcare or medical device industry.
• Knowledge/experience of Siemens and Mitsubishi PLCs
• 17th/18th Editions

Salary ranges from £40,000 to £42,000, with a 40-hour working week with a weekly rotating shift pattern within the hours of 6am-6pm.
