We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Animal Technician to join our client's growing team in Manchester. You will be providing day-to-day care and welfare for mice, supporting the research team.
As an Animal Technician, your main role will be to look after and care for the unit’s mice and aquatics. The ideal candidate needs to be able to work under pressure, be scrupulous with regard to hygiene and have an eye for detail.
As this is a highly specialised role, the ideal candidate will have previous experience with animals in a research environment.
Your main duties will include:
- Daily health checks
- Fulfilling husbandry needs, e.g. cage cleaning
- Sterilising consumables prior to entry into isolators
- Stock checks of both animals & consumables
- Record keeping
- If you are a PIL holder, you will be required to carry out the following regulated procedures e.g. gavaging, IP injections etc. within an isolator or iso-station
