NeuroSupport services are currently recruiting Support Workers and Healthcare Assistants  with a background of Brain Injury and Mental health experience to support services users with an acquired Brain Injury. Our service aims to support rehabilitation and in enabling people to optimise independence and quality of life.

We are looking for psychology graduates,support Workers and Healthcare Assistants  or suitable candidates  who would be willing to support people both within their home environment and also willing to provide support in helping service users access the community. We are looking for candidates that are confident with working independently and providing empirical feedback where necessary.

Job Title: Support Worker
Location: Redhill, RH1 5PA
Hourly Rate: £12-£14 per hour depending on experience.

Days & Hours: 

Monday: 10:00 - 14:00

Tuesday: 10:00 - 14:00

Wednesday: 10:00 - 14:00

Thursday: 10:00 - 14:00

Friday: 10:00 - 14:00 

Ideally, the client requires support for approx. 20 hours per week over 4 or 5 days. Flexibility with these hours can be considered, but the client has a nap between the hours of 14:30 to 16:30 pm so this time needs to be avoided.
Support will be provided at the nursing home where the client resides during the week, but it would be helpful if the support worker could support occasionally at the weekend, to support the client on his trips home - his family have an accessible bungalow in Orpington.

About you-Essential Experience:

The client requires a candidate who has experience of working with clients who have suffered a brain injury, and is used to working on their own and working within a team. The client is cared for by staff at the nursing home, but also has neurotherapy staff who support him. Much of the time, the support worker will be working on their own with the client.

About our client:

Client sustained a severe brain injury. He can verbally communicate but has significant cognitive impairments, and remains disorientated to where he is. He is wheelchair dependent and transfers with the assistance of 2 staff and the MoLift transfer aid. He has poor vision, and requires assistance with all activities of daily living. 

 It would be helpful if the candidate had an interest in the following:
• Music
• Cars

Required activities:

The support worker will be required to carry out guidelines and treatment plans provided by the therapy staff, e.g. UL exercises, engaging the client in games and additional stimulation, using the Alexa together to select and listen to music, and encouraging him to participate in more structured activities either at The home or individually etc.

Some assistance with personal care and feeding will be required, although the support worker will be supported by the care staff at Kings Lodge.

  • Have Experience in the field of Psychology 
  • Willing to become self-employed
