JOB TITLE: DEPUTY CARE MANAGER

Directly Responsible to Responsible Individual/manager

Supervision of all staff including administrative and domestic staff

Description of duties to be performed:

1. Possess or willing to work towards a management qualification.

2. Committed to a high standard of service to children and young people.

3. Can offer guidance and support to a skilled and committed staff team.

4. Commitment to the implementation of equal opportunities

5. Have a good knowledge of all relevant and current legislation in relation to working children and young people and their families, the national care standards for residential provision.

6. Have some knowledge and experience of budget and financial management.

The Main Purpose of the Job:

1. To carry out all functions relating to the management of Hilda-Rose Children and Young People’s Home

2. To assist in the management, support, and supervision of staff in conjunction with the responsible Individual

3. To assist through discussion participation and by positive example that Hilda-Rose Children and young people’s home maintain a high standard of childcare and provides the best possible service and outcome to children and young people.

4. To assist in the formulation and conduct in-house training for care staff to enable them to develop the knowledge and skills to effectively to meet the demands of the work.

5. To organise and attend meetings, review, court ad training sessions to provide support to staff and give relevant information and feedback.

6. To perform on-call duties.

7. To perform sleep/in duties when necessary

8. To carryout delegated

9. To carry out task delegated by the responsible individual/registered manager to assist in the efficient running of the home.

Experience:

1. Life and/or work experience of young people in a residential setting

Duties and Responsibilities:

· To assist in the development and maintain strategies to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people placed within the home.

· To assist in the recruitment and induction process of all staff.

· To supervise and manage staff within the home.

· To conduct staff supervision and keep accurate records and minutes.

· To organise and chair meetings, reviews as appropriate take minutes and keep accurate records.

· To assist in the implementation and coordination of quality assurance and quality monitoring systems.

· To work closely with social care inspectorate in relation to meeting the care standards for residential care home in respect of the registration of the home.

· To represent the home and work effectively with other agencies.

· To monitor the file of children and young people to ensure that they are being maintained, kept up to date in accordance with the care standards and Hilda-Rose’s Children Home expectations, regarding the storage of information, access to information and confidentiality.

· To ensure that the effective and reliable methods of communications exit between you and the staff, the young people and their families, the commissions for social care inspectorate and all relevant individuals and agencies.

· To promote regular contact between staff, young people, and their social workers to ensure that effective communication takes place.

· To liaise and advocate with families and other agencies to ensure that each individual young person need is being appropriately met
