Job Outline:

My client, who is a market leading designer, and manufacturer of specialist optical components, lenses and systems, now seeks a Senior Optical Engineer to join their team.

Based at my client’s development and manufacturing facility in Hertfordshire, you will be involved with design work in both optics and mechanics, as well as supporting and overseeing my client’s assembly and testing activities.

Your primary responsibilities will be to undertake Optical design activities using OpticStudio / Zemax, and as such you should have a strong understanding of both Optical Design, and optical production techniques.

On occasion you will be meeting with potential customers to discuss technical aspects of both designing and manufacturing of products.

By using your knowledge of optical production techniques, you will also provide technical support in Production / Production planning / QA.

In addition to this you will also undertake an element of mechanical design (Solidworks)

The role will also include occasional travel to customers to undertake technical discussions and to discuss projects etc.

This is an exciting and varied role for an experienced Optics/Photonics professional where you will be involved in design and customer interaction.

Experience:

It is expected that you will have a minimum of a degree or higher in Photonics/Optics/Physics or similar.

It is also expected that you will have proven background in Optical Design and Manufacturing.
