A fabrication manager is urgently required to plan, organise, coordinate and control all Fabrication, Pipework, & Riggers activity onsite.   As fabrication manager you will ensure all work is performed to ISO 9001:2015 (Quality), ISO 14001:2015 (Environment) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety) standards and customer satisfaction.  As fabrication manager you will control all Fabrication, Pipework, & Riggers activity through reporting senor team members to complete contracts on time and budget and ensuring customer satisfaction.  As fabrication manager you will maximise efficiency and productivity to achieve agreed targets and objectives

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance to the Company’s Health & Safety, Quality and environmental policies, procedures and requirements
  • Continually review resource requirements, and put arrangements in place to maintain labour at the correct level to complete contracts in line with objectives
  • Be aware of key risks on site and consider them when planning work. Review operating methods, encourage and process improved performance suggestions and ensure motivation of Department personnel
  • Set objectives/targets for reporting Supervisors to aid achievement of Company Objectives.  Ensuring correct supervision is in place to manage repair contracts
  • Work with the estimating Department and provide assistance with predicted hours and identify any logistical or technical issues at the pre-tender stages Project Programmes
  • Liaise closely with Project Managers other Department Managers, and support maintenance work required across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies & procedures, holding briefings and toolbox talks, and impose disciplinary action if/where necessary
  • Manage relationships and communication with TU Representatives and the workforce, in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement
  • Work with Production Director to identify succession needs for department Supervision, and identify department skill shortages
  • Monitor employee performance and review current skill levels and company requirements, implementing training plans to address shortfalls
  • Evaluate department capital investment requirements, and submit applications for expenditure where required, including tools and equipment

Qualification and Experience

  • Background in engineering, preferably in a relevant field such as mechanical, marine, or structural engineering.
  • In-depth understanding of fabrication processes, materials, welding techniques, and relevant engineering principles. Knowledge of marine construction
  • Strong leadership, project management and managerial skills to oversee a team of fabricators, welders, and other personnel.
  • Several years of practical experience in fabrication, welding, and relevant engineering roles, preferably in the maritime industry.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to fabrication and site operations.
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address issues that may arise during the fabrication process.
  • Familiarity with budgeting processes and cost control measures to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
