We have a fantastic opportunity for a locum Speech & Language Therapist to join a leading teaching hospital, based in South East London. They are seeking a qualified Speech Therapist with previous Paediatric experience.
Job Description
To assess the speech, language and communication needs of clients referred to the speech and language therapy service.
To develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment/intervention.
To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of patients/clients with complex communication difficulties and / or swallowing difficulties (dependent upon area of clinical experience).
To produce reports regarding patients' needs and summarise proposed care and management plans within agreed timescales.
To be aware of and adhere to service and team plans and policies.
To be responsible for an identified area of project co-ordination within the service to be agreed with the Service Lead/s.
To have a delegated clinical responsibility within the service with guidance and support from the Service Lead/s and Principal / Highly Specialist Therapists.
To propose aspects of service/policy developments as appropriate.
To comment on proposed service/policy developments as appropriate.
To contribute to the development of protocols as appropriate.
To attend relevant meetings and events as requested by team leads.
To share information with others, observing data protection guidelines.
To attend relevant training and development in order to maintain skills and knowledge required of a therapist working in the field of paediatric communication difficulties / dysphagia (as appropriate) and maintain up to date HCPC and RCSLT registration.
To demonstrate knowledge of, and adhere to RCSLT Professional and Clinical and National and Local Clinical Guidelines.
To participate in the development and delivery of training (formal and informal) to others with and without support.
To keep up to date with new techniques and developments for the promotion and maintenance of good practice in the field of paediatric communication difficulties / dysphagia (as appropriate).
To demonstrate a working knowledge of relevant procedures including: Safeguarding Children, SEN procedures, Young People and Maternity Services and other legal frameworks.
To demonstrate a working knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and their application to professional practice.
To maintain sensitivity at all times to the emotional needs of the client and their carers in particular when imparting potentially distressing information regarding the nature of the client's difficulties and implications of the same.
To work in identified areas of deprivation

Position Requirements
•HCPC Registered
•Minimum of two years postgraduate experience
•Previous clinical experience performing a similar role within a Speech & Language Therapy setting
