Our client are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join their team on a full time basis.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work.
  • To develop innovative and evidence based programs to improve the outcomes for people that require rehabilitation, from a neurological or other conditions.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the Physio Therapy team.
  • To develop the capacity and skills of the workforce working with patients with Stroke and other complex neurological or other general conditions, on the rehabilitation units and outpatient settings community.
  • To provide expert advice and support to colleagues and other professionals working in other clinical areas and across the organisation.
  • To practice independently at a high level whilst assessing risk, using senior medical advice if necessary.
  • To provide structured and spontaneous advice to patients, family, carers or other professionals, to promote an understanding both of the condition and relevant therapy.

Educational Responsibilities:

  • Act as a specialist Physiotherapist, providing education, training and advice to junior Therapists.
  • Participate in clinical evaluation trials and audit.
  • Provide clinical supervision and competency attainment for the junior staff and students by providing clinical training, theory and practical education sessions and advice on client needs and treatments.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage all junior physio staff, providing appropriate levels of supervision as required.
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure seamless service in instances where sick leave is required by staff members and or staff members are on annual leave.
  • Responsible for monitoring progress on relevant clinical governance objectives and delegating tasks to junior staff members.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Work as a lone practitioner, within the guidelines of the Lone Working Policy, when performing community visits.
  • To be responsible for maintaining detailed and accurate patient treatment records in line with Health Professions Council, legal standards and the company's policies.
  • To be responsible for recording your own statistics and ensuring junior members of staff are doing this in accordance with trust policy.

Effort and Environmental Factors:

  • Perform objective assessments of such things as balance, muscle strength, range of movement, transfers and mobility with moderate to high physical effort on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrate compassion, empathy and sensitivity to patients who may have complex emotional and physical conditions.
  • Comply with Moving and Handling, Lone Working and Risk Assessment Policies at all times.
  • Comply with local risk assessments when dealing with complex clients with challenging behavioural needs and high risk extreme environments.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of CPD relevant to the treatment of people with neurological disabilities.
  • Up to date CPD portfolio.
  • Training in appraisal / supervision.

Experience:

  • Experience of research and clinical audit.
  • Experience working in community or outpatient rehabilitation.
  • Experience at a senior level working with patients with acquired brain injury neurological conditions, including those with an acquired brain injury.
  • Experience in general physical rehabilitation.
  • Experience working with Social Services.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Knowledge of research and audit processes.
  • Advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of people with acquired brain injury neurological conditions, including those with an acquired brain injury.
  • Knowledge of outcome measures and evidence based practice associated with people with physical disabilities.
  • An understanding of the importance of involving service users in their treatment and in service development.
  • Ability to self motivate.
