A leading developer of polymer based technology is seeking a Post Doc Researcher for their site in Cambridgeshire.

This role is within the High Thermal Conductivity Materials team, whose aim is to develop composite materials for the thermal management of electronics. The role will support the project’s material development with the synthesis of thermally conductive polymers and the functionalisation of inorganic fillers to be incorporated into a thermally conductive composite. In addition, the role will involve the development of new innovation projects through collaboration with colleagues to investigate cutting edge research topics and global materials development challenges with the aim of proposing new projects.

•           Working closely with the High Thermal Conductivity Materials team to develop new materials which meet the application specification.

•           Synthesis, purification, and characterisation of novel materials to meet technical performance requirements.

•           Produce proposals to adapt and improve novel materials according to performance and specification requirements.

•           Clearly report findings and formulate recommendations either within or outside the organisation.

•           A PhD in Organic Chemistry, or alternatively a Chemistry degree coupled with equivalent relevant industrial work experience.

•           An inquiring mind, with a broad interest in current trends outside current speciality, particularly towards materials development.

•           Track record of the design and successful synthesis of novel organic molecules to meet a technical need.

•           Experience in controlling the interaction between inorganic particles and organic materials is highly desirable.

•           Experience of incorporating materials into device structures to demonstrate desired functional properties is highly desirable.

•           A demonstrable interest in developing technical solutions across a range of applications.
