Registered Mental Health Nurse CAMHS
·To assess, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care as part of a multidisciplinary CAMHS team.
·To initiate emergency interventions as patients/clients condition dictates as referring to other multidisciplinary members of the team as necessary.
·To provide prescribed nursing care without supervision, within the level of the post-holder’s experience.
·To participate as team member, including supporting relatives and friends of patients/clients together with providing support for other patients/clients.
·To maintain accurate records, both electronic and paper, of the care given in accordance with agreed standards.
·To act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
·Independently liase and communicate effectively with members of the nursing staff, multidisciplinary team and other associated agencies.
·Demonstrate evidence-based practice.
Training and education
·Participate in contributing to the continuing development of the department’s philosophy, training/education.
·To undertake in-house annual mandatory training in Manual Handling, Basic Life Support, Fire Safety and AED training.
·To undertake the role of health promoter and educator for patients/clients and their families/significant others.
·To maintain and develop own skills to promote evidence-based practice, within the role of emergency care.
·To participate in clinical supervision.
·To assist in the learning, development and assessment of unqualified staff.
·To undertake a formal mentorship role if an appropriate qualification is held.
·Demonstrate the ability to be self-directing, identifying and maintaining supportive networks and adequate supervision of difficult caseloads.
·Implement and manage changes identified within CAMHS.
·To co-ordinate complex discharge arrangements through communication with other multidisciplinary CAMHS members and associated agencies.
·To give due consideration to language and cultural differences of both patients/clients/relatives/significant others and colleagues.
·To communicate effectively with patients/clients and significant others.
·To provide outreach services as required.
·To participate in clinical audit as required in department
·With training, access organisational electronic information systems relevant to the role.
·Input data and information accurately, using the correct format consistent with legislation, policies and procedure.
It is expected that following appropriate development and support, Band 5 registered nurses will manage their own case loads and provide a nursing service as part of a multidisciplinary CAMHS Team.This includes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for clients and their families.They would also be providing crisis intervention and outreach services as required.
By demonstrating knowledge and competence in relation to firmly established procedures and policies they will also participate in professional development of student nurses on placement.
