Senior Dental Nurse
SENIOR DENTAL NURSE – SOLIHULL, WEST MIDLANDS, B91 - JO17062
We need a Dental Nurse to start working in Solihull, West Midlands.
Ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the patient’s journey.
·To maintain good customer relations with all patients and parents
·To schedule appointment according to office guidelines
·To maintain good customer relations with referring dentists
·To provide clinical support to the Clinicians and Therapists
·To assist in all areas of the practice as needed
·Observe patient confidentiality at all times
·To portray a professional attitude to doctors, staff, patients/parents and to referring dentists
As Lead Nurse:
·Work alongside the Nurse and Practice Managers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the practices in accordance with established procedures and protocols
·To lead the nursing team with the Nurse Manager.
·Cross Infection Lead – to follow and meet the current HTM 01-05 guidance and be ultimately responsible for the decontamination and infection control element within the business
·To be responsible for all the processes in place and ensure that all daily testing of equipment is performed adequately
·Ensuring all validation, maintenance, testing and servicing is in place for all equipment. Liaising with service engineers as and when required and ensuring all required documentation is in place
·Completing clinical and non-clinical audits regularly
·Rota’s – To ensure all rota’s are completed 3 months in advance and work closely with the admin manager and reception co-ordinator to create rota’s for all staff members across both sites. Updating regularly
·Meetings – Conduct monthly Nurse meetings, minute, distribute and action anything required
·To be involved in Nurse recruitment – complete telephone and face to face interviews.
·To be involved in Nurse induction and probationary meetings, train, develop and performance manage staff to ensure they meet performance standard.
·Conduct Appraisals with the Nurse and Business Manager
·To support the Nurse Manager to ensure that all the clinical team are adhering to all legislation and regulations and all company policies, protocols and procedures
·Responsible for maintaining weekly, monthly tasks, logs and audits
·Assist with organisation of equipment upgrades and purchasing and oversee installation
·Attend Trade shows as required
·To be prepared to cover nurses during sickness and annual leave and at short notice across both practices
·To conduct Record Clinics as and when required across two practices
·Ensure all models are logged, stored and monitored as per guidelines
·To cover late nights and early morning as required.
General Day to Day Duties:
·Ensure day lists collated effectively along with associated lab work
·Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions
·Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
·Proactively prepare surgeries for clinics ensuring a clean and well stocked area
·Provide chairside assistance to all clinicians as per rota, ensuring that the correct equipment is available
·Ensure the care and welfare of patients
·Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained
·Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed
·Handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies
·Be familiar and comply with all health and safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, infection control, waste disposal, etc
·Take, develop and file radiographs
·Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted
·Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
·Monitor stock supplies and inform the appropriate person as necessary
·Ensure computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored
·Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
·Attend and participate in practice meetings
·Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice
·Adhere to GDC rules and regulations and ensure registration kept
·Participate with all Core CPD requirements and ensure all training set by the Business is completed.
·Adhere to all practice policies, procedures and protocols at all times
·Comply fully with GDPR, Information Governance and all Data Protection regulations
·First Aider within the business (training will be provided).
·Answers the telephone in a timely manner, in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner
·Ensure that the appointment system is efficient and accurate
·Welcome all patients arriving at the practice
·Telephone new patients one or two days before their appointment
·Liaises with Head TC with regards to any private patients, so they can update the private patient tracker
·When possible forward all private new patient enquiries to the Treatment Co-Ordinator or Private Receptionist
·Help maintain an up to date record of all private new patient enquiries
·Collect and record payments accurately
·Ensure patient records are complete correctly before filing and storing them in an efficient, tidy and secure manner
·Ensure all records are uploaded onto patient medical notes in a prompt manner
·Ensure all referrals are added to the system within 5 working days of being received by the practice
·Complete all relevant forms for NHS and private schemes within a specified timescale
·Encourage prompt payments and chase any outstanding debts according to the practice policy
·Liaise with dental labs, supply companies and other organisations as required
·Compile day lists
·Maintain office and reception area, keeping it clean and tidy at all times
·Ensure all literature is up to date, stamped at the back of brochure and visibly displayed
·Liaise with Business Manager regarding reception supplies in order to maintain adequate stock levels
·Provide an accurate end of day chasing up sheet to the Business Manager
·Confirm long appointments (30 minutes and over) by telephone at least 2 days before
·Supports the Business Manager and Practice Directors with the practice marketing (in-house and external) at all times
·Liaises and maintains a positive relationship with all referring dentists
·Ensure the operation of the patient recall system
·Assist with the compliance and regulatory requirements
·Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice
·Undergo training as may be required to develop your skills and abilities
·Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR
·Act in accordance with the practice rule and code of conduct
·Work at other practice locations from time to time as required
