Support Worker - St Aidens and Nevilles Court

Bearpark, United Kingdom
Permanent

Support Worker - St Aiden's/Nevilles

Location: Bearpark or Nevilles Cross

Salary: £13.04 per hour

Job Type: Permanent / On-site

Contract Type: Full-time or Part-time, Days or Nights

About the Role

This is not an elderly care role.

We are seeking resilient, compassionate, and dedicated Support Workers to join our specialist services supporting adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour. The individuals we support may present with physical and verbal aggression as part of their condition, as well as the potential of targeting those with protected characteristics. This role therefore requires emotional strength, patience, and a genuine commitment to understanding behaviour rather than judging it.

Our residents live with a range of needs including mental health conditions, learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and physical disabilities. Many have experienced trauma, exclusion, or long periods of institutional care. Your role is to help change that narrative - to provide consistency, kindness, and skilled support that genuinely improves quality of life.

This is a highly rewarding but demanding role, suited to people who want to make a real difference and who believe everyone deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to live a meaningful life.

Key Responsibilities

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support tailored to each individual's needs. This includes:

Supporting residents through distressed or challenging behaviour, using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Building trusting, respectful relationships, even during difficult moments

Assisting with personal care, daily routines, and household tasks

Supporting residents with shopping, appointments, and community activities

Encouraging independence, choice, and skill development

Helping residents engage in positive experiences that enhance their wellbeing

Maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment for everyone

This role is about seeing the person behind the behaviour and working as part of a strong, supportive team to help residents feel safe, valued, and understood.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for people who are:

Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient

Able to remain professional in the face of challenging behaviour

Compassionate, open-minded, and non-judgemental

Strong communicators with good listening skills

Reliable, positive, and committed to teamwork

Passionate about improving lives, not just providing care

No previous experience is required, but desirable. Full training is provided through our Careline Academy, including behaviour support, de-escalation, and safeguarding.
